One of a Kind Drumline

One of a Kind Drumline logoEstablished in 2003 at King Elementary, One of a Kind Drumline performs upbeat, high-energy, inspirational drumming cadences that move the audience and motivate students to strive for excellence. The program teaches college and life readiness by using drums as a tool for excellence.

One of a Kind Drumline creator/King staff member Eddie Esparza shares his passion for drumming with his students and teaches them that it’s about more than playing the drums—the drums are an extension of the player. When players learn to respect and control the drum, they can apply that same discipline to themselves personally, academically and socially.

Boys and Girls Club

The Boys and Girls Club offers after-school and summer programs for students in first through fifth grades. The O.K. Clubhouse is located at 4100 Plomondon Rd.

Athletics

Athletics are a fun way for students to learn sportsmanship and get exercise. Girls and boys in fourth and fifth grades can participate in volleyball, basketball and track at King.

Safety patrol

King fifth-graders have an opportunity to show their responsibility and leadership as members of the school safety patrol. Working with adults, the safety patrol helps students and parents safely cross nearby streets before and after school.

Student leadership team

King fifth-graders can apply for the student leadership team. The team of motivated girls and boys is responsible for daily school announcements and school spirit activities. The team, which meets daily at lunch, rotates three times each year to give more students an opportunity to serve their school community.
